Some folks are a little shyer than me and they rarely admit that they can sing but from time to time they get caught on a microphone and whala. What do you know? They can sing. Here is a cover of 'Life Is Like A Mountain Railroad' Performed by a good friend of mine, Brenda Hubbard. Give her a little backup band and I think she did fairly well. One of these days some one will ask me if I have any recordings...

Angels Rock Me To Sleep, written by Marion W. Easterling & Thomas Ramsey

and recorded by Bill Monroe.

One of the many bluegrass/gopel songs that I learned when I started learning a Bluegrass repitoir. Bill Monroe's 'Angels Rock Me To Sleep ' is well written lyricaly and pleasing to the ear musicaly. it is such an excelent balance.that it is no wonder it became so popular in its day. If you haven't heard this song befor please give it a listen and I think that you'll see what I mean.

The Wayfaring Stranger written by John Wyeth & recorded by Burl Ives.

One of my favorite folk / gospel tunes "The Wayfaring Stranger' is an excellent tune for any one who loves bluegrass/gospel music. It's heavy use of minor notes suggests it was written for bluegrass but it's origins predate bluegrass by nearly one hundred years. Still it has a modern sound to it that certainly belies it's age.
Burl Ives made it his signature song in the 40's but I must admit that I'm not quite sure where...

Why Did I Wait So Long written by Shawn Lane & recorded by Ricky Skaggs.

Posted 03-05-2013 at 03:43 PM by Bishop (Elger's Recording Studio)

Alright I didn't do as good a cover of this as I would have liked. I tried time & time again but could not get a saticfactory recording. I'm just not good enough. So why poste it? For the same reason I poste all of my efforts. Because this song deserves to be brought forward into the eyes of the public who might, as yet, have not heard it. One of the greatest gospel numbers I have ever heard, it never fails to stir my heart into a flurie. Ricky Skaggs does an awesome job presenting this number....

Memories of Mother: written by Carter Stanley

I grew up with music all around. The boys in my father's family most all played instruments and often celebrated family events with music late into the night. I guess that is why, when my mother died, I turned to music for some solice. This old bluegrass gospel number pretty much sums up how I felt at that time. Songs like these were ment to help people through such events in life. I hope you will enjoy my cover of this...
