This little video, and the others like it, where created to feature on a website I edit for a jam group called the 'Westman Jams'. https://westmanjams.wordpress.com/ It is part of an artist feature series that I'm trying to put together to show folks what kind of talent and music you might see if you attended a monthly Westman Jam. All of these particular videos where recorded live at various jams using a simple voice recorder. That is why you can hear so much background noise and the recording quality is not the best. The goal is to give a real sense of what you might hear at a jam.
This month I am featuring... uh... me. Yeah I know, that sounds pretty self centered but it was the best clip I could get off the recordings as far as crowd noise went. These things are live, you see. At any rate I decided to go up to the mic and do an instrumental, instead of my usual singing stuff, because I thought that instrumentals had been under represented, as they often are. Now I'm not a very good guitarist, but I felt that sometimes you have to take a risk, after all, its all just for fun isn't it?
So here is me, Elger Heath, also known as The Chairman because I often rest one foot on a chair as I play at the mic. …oh you folks thought I was somebody important huh? Well unfortunately not. But it's all for fun so here is my effort at playing beautiful fiddle tune by Jay Ungar, on the six-string guitar, called 'Ashokan Farewell'.
