May You Never Be Alone Like Me.

Posted 02-03-2011 at 02:26 AM by Bishop

Some years back I was at an auction sale in Melita, Manitoba when I came across an old AutoHarp. It had a few boken strings, a seam that had come unglued and all the buttons had been removed from the key shafts. Otherwise however it appeared completely intact.
I knew at first sight that I had to buy it. know nothing about AutoHarps but I love old fashioned instruments and I saw this as a piece of Americana. I purchased it for twenty bucks and got it repaired for $60.00. THe strings cost the most at over one hundred smakers. Still as far as I was concerned it was worth it.
Now I don't claim to actualy play the darn thing, but I did use it in this recording of an old Hank Williams classic called 'May You Never Be Alone Like Me'. Imagine how much an instrument like this could add to a song if I actualy could play the thing.
