The song 'With Body And Soul' is a lovely bluegrass offering originaly recorded by, Bluegrass Legend, Bill Monroe. This is, I admit, a more countryfied cover because I am at heart a country musician. Bluegrass connoisseurs will not the lack of minor notes through out the tune. That is one of the major differences between early country and bluegrass. Bluegrass musicians where quick to catch on to the...

Once again I am reminded of how unfair Country Music can be. All most all the best tunes out there are being written from a distinctly female view. Still I guess if you want Country Music to have good taste you have to make it with the best ingredients you've got. Rhonda Vincent is another one of those female Country Music artists out there that impresses the hell out of me. 'Don't Lie' was a number...

When Two Worlds Collide: written by Bill Anderson and Roger Miller

Posted 05-11-2013 at 04:14 AM by Bishop (Elger's Recording Studio)

recorded by Jim Reeves

'When Two Worlds Collide' is not in the style of music I usualy gravitate towards but I have to say that there is something hauntingly sweet about this tune and I don't get to hear it enough. Take the time, if you would, and listen to my cover of this old Jim Reeves number and perhaps you'll get the sence of what I'm talking about.

Of recent I have taken up an interest in a form of music called Americana. Nobody seems to accurately be able to define Americana, that I've heard, but for me its country/blues and some times gospel with a very hard edge to it and no brakes to reduce the damage on impact.
The Steeldrivers' 'That Good Corn Liquor' seems to fit this definition perfectly. Take a...

Drifting Too Far From The Shore: written by Charles E. Moody

Some years back I joined a jam group that themed itself around bluegrass music. As I was just a good old country boy and not particularly versed in bluegrass I set about to learn a new repitoir. I found that while bluegrass was often quite monotonous Bluegrass gospel was quite another story.

Now I don't mean to offend but I must admit that I...
