Breaking Shooting Stereotypes on Daily Split
TORONTO – Diana Cabrera does not fit the stereotype about people who shoot guns. Feminine, attractive, articulate – and not a hint of cammo in sight.
The 24-year-old Olympic level sports shooter (and her impressive air rifle) is featured on this week’s episode of Daily Split, airing Sunday June 19 at 11 pm Eastern, 8 pm Pacific on Vision TV.
Daily Split host and avid shooter Brian Lovig welcomes Cabrera and Canadian Shooting Sports Association (CSSA) executives Larry Whitmore and Tony Bernardo to the program to discuss the sport itself and some of the issues athletes in Canada face due to the stigma attached to anyone who shoots a gun – a stigma is so ingrained that Cabrera – an Olympic calibre athlete -- had to look elsewhere for the support required to pursue her passion. She hopes to secure a spot on the Uruguay Olympic team for the 2012 games in London.
Daily Split TV is a 30 minute talk show/social commentary hosted by the charismatic Lovig, who can currently be seen on the website www.dailysplit.com where he entertains a dedicated political and business oriented following with his decidedly opinionated commentary on current events and the world of business. Daily Split TV seemed a natural progression from the website.
And what’s with that name? “Daily there is a split: between right and left, east and west, male and female, what we think and what the mainstream press tells us we think,” according to Lovig.

“Daily Split provides unique insight into the right wing and common sense lifestyle. Political views, controversial issues, current events and weekly guests round out the entertainment value.”

Daily Split airs Sunday evenings 8 p.m. West coast, 9 p.m. Alberta, 11 p.m. Eastern, Midnight Atlantic.
