Just Someone I Used To Know

Posted 11-03-2013 at 05:51 PM by Bishop

written by Jack Clement & recorded by Rhonda Vincent & Vern Gosdin.

One of the greatest pleasures of singing, for me, has to be doing the harmony parts of a song. Truly I would rather do the backup harmony than the lead part when it comes to singing. I will admit that I'm not very good at it but there is just something thrilling about hearing two or more voices meshing together in harmonic tones.

Strangely enough, I find that few armature singers perform, or even will attempt to sing these parts. I can't imagine why. When ever I hear a song that I love and find myself singing along it is always the harmony I fall into. Jack Clement's "Just Someone I Used To Know" is a wonderful example of a harmony song, a little more challenging than some but still well worth the effort. Rhonda Vincent & Vern Gosdin get the mood and harmonies just right in their version of this tune. Here is my attempt at it. I hope that you enjoy this cover.
