Here Today

Bluegrass is not an old form of music per say. It came into existence in the 1930's and 40's but its foundation lies in what folks used to refer to as Oldtimie Music. This is a form of music that stretches back hundreds of years and straddles the american con-tenant and across the ocean, back to the old countries. These were songs written to entertain but also to teach valuable lessons. Laurie Lewis and Scott Huffman wrote an elegant example of such a song in 'Here Today'.

This song tries to show us that life isn't supposed to be about forever. Time is limited and that makes our time here, with our friends all that much more precious. It reminds us that the life should be lived to its fullest so that when we leave it behind we'll be able to go on to the next life with a sense of contentment. Laurie Lewis's recording of this song is definitely worth checking out.

Just to give you a taste of this gem I offer up my cover of 'Here Today'. I hope that you will enjoy it.
